Kwankwaso Ally Mustapha Shu’aib Dumps NNPP, Eyes New Political Platform

Rt. Hon. Mustapha Shu’aib, a close political associate of former Kano State governor and NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), signaling a major political shift in Niger State.

Shu’aib, who contested the 2023 Niger State House of Assembly election as the NNPP candidate for Bida North Constituency, described his resignation as a calculated and strategic decision aimed at repositioning himself for greater political effectiveness. Notably, he was the youngest candidate to contest in the 2023 general elections, earning widespread attention for his youth-driven campaign.

According to the former lawmaker, the decision followed broad consultations with political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and grassroots supporters across Bida North. He emphasized that the move was not a retreat from politics but a deliberate effort to align with a platform that better reflects his vision for inclusive governance and sustainable development.

Political observers say Shu’aib’s exit from the NNPP could alter political dynamics within the North Central region, particularly in Niger State, where youth participation and party realignments are gaining momentum ahead of future elections.

Widely seen as a disciplined and grassroots-oriented politician, Shu’aib has consistently championed youth empowerment, accountability in governance, and community development. His role in the Kwankwasiyya political movement had previously elevated his profile within the NNPP, positioning him as one of the party’s emerging leaders.

Supporters argue that his resignation demonstrates political maturity and foresight, especially amid Nigeria’s rapidly evolving political landscape. As he explores new political alliances, analysts believe Mustapha Shu’aib will continue to play a significant role in shaping political discourse and representation in Bida North and beyond.
