Army Arrests 10 Suspected Terrorists, Rescues Kidnap Victims in North-Central

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated security operations across the Federal Capital Territory and parts of the North-Central region.

According to an operational report released on Wednesday in Abuja by the News Agency of Nigeria, the operations were carried out under various internal security missions.

In the FCT, troops of the 176 Guards Battalion, working alongside the Office of the National Security Adviser tracking team under Operation MESA, arrested two suspected terrorists at a checkpoint in Abaji. The suspects were intercepted while traveling in a commercial vehicle from Kaduna to Asaba and are currently in custody for further investigation.

In Benue State, troops operating under Operation WHIRL STROKE apprehended two suspected terrorists in Gwer West Local Government Area and recovered two motorcycles during patrols.

Meanwhile, in Nasarawa State, troops acting on credible intelligence arrested six suspected terrorists and drug traffickers in the Karshi area of Karu Local Government Area. Recovered items reportedly included a locally made pistol, cartridges, and other materials.

The report also highlighted success in anti-kidnapping efforts in Benue. Security forces responding to distress calls forced kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee. One victim was rescued in Mbakange, Katsina-Ala LGA, and handed over to the police, while two others were freed in a separate operation in Agidi, Konshisha LGA.

The army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving security across the country.
