Tottenham Hotspur forwards Randal Kolo Muani and Wilson Odobert are expected to be available for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, despite being involved in a minor car accident. Spurs manager Thomas Frank confirmed on Tuesday that the incident caused a brief delay in their travel plans but resulted in no injuries, easing concerns ahead of the decisive European encounter.
Frank explained that the accident occurred while the players were en route to the airport with the rest of the squad. According to the manager, the issue was caused by a tyre blowout, with no serious consequences for those involved.
“Both were involved in a minor accident, but everyone is fine,” Frank told reporters.
“It was a tyre blowing up, so they were delayed slightly. They are travelling later tonight, and I fully expect both to be available tomorrow.”
The manager added that he had not yet spoken directly with the players but had been assured of their wellbeing.
While Tottenham received a boost with the availability of Kolo Muani and Odobert, the club will be without key defenders Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven for the trip to Germany.
Frank confirmed that Porro has suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be sidelined for around four weeks, while Van de Ven was left behind as a precaution.
“It’s just a minor issue for Micky,” Frank said.
“We expect him to be a strong possibility for the Manchester City game.”
Tottenham Injury Concerns Persist
Spurs’ injury list remains lengthy, with James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison all unavailable, further testing squad depth as the season reaches a crucial stage.
Champions League vs Domestic Form
Despite domestic struggles, Tottenham have been impressive in Europe. They have lost just one of their seven Champions League matches, with that defeat coming against Paris Saint-Germain. In stark contrast, Spurs have managed only two wins from their last 14 Premier League games.
Frank insisted the team’s focus remains firmly on the European challenge ahead.
“For me, tomorrow is all about Frankfurt and the opportunity in front of us,” he said.
Impact / What It Means
Tottenham currently sit fifth in the Champions League standings with 14 points and are already guaranteed at least a playoff spot. Victory against Frankfurt would confirm a top-eight finish and secure automatic qualification for the last 16, while their German hosts have already been eliminated from the competition.
