US rapper Kanye West has postponed his scheduled concert in Marseille, France, following reports that authorities were considering blocking the event.
In a post shared on X late Tuesday, the 48-year-old artist—also known as Ye—announced the decision, stating: “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice.”
According to reports, France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nunez had been exploring ways to prevent the June 11 performance in the southern city. The move was linked to West’s history of antisemitic remarks, which have drawn widespread criticism in recent years.
West has faced backlash for controversial statements, including expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler. His comments have led to restrictions in other countries as well. The United Kingdom, under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, barred him from entering the country, prompting the cancellation of a festival he was set to headline in July.
However, not all countries have taken similar action. Dutch Migration Minister Bart van den Brink recently stated that there are currently no plans to prevent West from entering the Netherlands.
In a separate post, West addressed the controversy, saying he understands it takes time for people to recognize his efforts to make amends. “I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it,” he wrote.
The rapper’s controversies escalated in May 2025 when he released a song titled “Heil Hitler,” following earlier backlash for promoting a swastika-themed T-shirt on his website. The track was banned from major streaming platforms. West later expressed regret for his actions, attributing his behavior to struggles with bipolar disorder.
